About The Parish

Leadership

The Pastor

The Pastor is appointed by the bishop of the diocese for a six-year renewable term. He represents the bishop as the local servant leader responsible for the spiritual and temporal well-being of the people of the parish.

The Pastoral Team

At St. Elizabeth, the Pastor shares his authority and power among the full-time Pastoral Team members. Each Team member has a job description and areas of ministry responsibility. In this collaborative model of a local church, the Pastor is first among equals and the final decision maker when consensus is not reached, or when he deems it necessary to intervene in the decision-making process. The Team is both a visionary leadership group and directly involved in the coordination of the many parish ministries.

The Pastoral Council

Bios of each of the Current Pastoral Council members is available here.

The St. Elizabeth Pastoral Council is the visionary leadership group that works in close collaboration with the Pastor and Pastoral Team. The Council and Team have the special responsibility of developing and implementing the parish vision and mission statement. The Council members, like the Team, need to constantly keep the big picture of overall parish life in view. The Council is a planning council, acting as a forum of consultation for the Pastor and Pastoral Team, by engaging the people of the parish in and ongoing dialogue about the needs, feeling hopes and reactions of the parisioners. Working closely with the Pastor and Team, the Council assists in identifying and designing the long-range and short-term goals and objectives of the parish. Once those goals are defined, the Council hands over their implementation to the responsibility of  other parish ministries.

The members are selected through a process of prayer and discernment and appointed by the pastor for a three-year term. The Council meets with the pastor ten times a year
