Administration
MinistriesAdministration supports the efforts of the various ministries by providing or maintaining a support system. Communication, Finance, and Building & Grounds are primary areas of Administration. Others include Annual Bishops Appeal, Sorting & Stapling and the Web Site Committee
The Bishop of the Diocese of Rockville Centre began the Bishop's Annual Appeal in 1978. The parishioners of all the parishes within the diocese provide funds that help support Diocesan programs and services, including Catholic Charities, educational programs and the parishes of the diocese. Through the Parish Sharing Program, each parish receives a rebate of 25% when pledge payments reach the diocesan assigned goal and a rebate of 75% of payments received in excess of the goal. The St. Elizabeth Bishop's Annual Appeal Committee coordinates the Appeal at the parish level. Members of the Committee plan mailings, write up pulpit and bulletin announcements, organize and maintain tables during "sign-up Sundays", speak at Mass, recruit and train volunteers for the telephone campaign and evaluate the year's appeal efforts. The Bishop celebrates a mass to kick-off the Appeal and the Diocese provides brochures, sample letters and suggested time lines as well as training sessions
Members of this committee work on projects that maintain and enhance the grounds and facilities. Specific projects include landscaping, painting, electrical work and furniture repair. In addition, core group members offer expertise in areas of construction, engineering and facilities maintenance to the Plant Manager.
This committee
informs the parish on events and ministries in our parish and around the
diocese with updates on Catholic trends and traditions. It's primary function
is to build community - a community connected and aware. They create the
St. Elizabeth Quarterly and the Stewardship Annual Report.
The Finance Committee assists in the administration of the parish temporalities. Members advise in the wise stewardship of financial resources. They take part in the preparation, review and approval of the parish financial report and budget submitted annually to the Bishop
This administrative ministry meets at the Parish Center to process mailings so that the more than 3,500 families in the parish can receive information in a timely fashion. Members get a phone call a day or two before they are needed and come in for an hour or more to put letters and other literature in the appropriate envelopes. All mailings are prepared during the week, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m
This ministry is responsible for enhancing and updating this website. They meet once a month to share ideas on how to best use the technology of the internet to serve our parish community.
