Knights of Columbus

Contact info:

Mickey Walsh: 424-9710

The Knights of Columbus is the largest Catholic fraternal organization in the world. Their purpose is to promote Catholic ideals, support the church and our priests, contribute to youth oriented programs and provide assistance for worthy charities. This organization began in 1882 by Fr. Michael McGiveney and was designed to provide security for the widows and orphans of Catholic parishioners. It has grown far beyond its original purpose. As a global organization, the Knights of Columbus contribute generously to charitable and benevolent organizations and donate money to the Vatican for the Pope's personal charities.

Locally, the St. Elizabeth Council is active in supporting our church and community programs. The Council organizes a St. Patrick's Day Dance, whose proceeds are donated to our youth in a scholarship fund for college bound students. Additionally, they support a local Boy Scout Troop, run a Basketball Free-Throw Contest and have established a Squire Group for boys. The Council's contributions to charities are diverse and include Meals on Wheels, Long Island Cares, Outreach and St. Vincent de Paul. As staunch supporters of anti-abortion causes, your local council hosted fund-raiser for Birthright, which assists unwed mothers and initiated and instituted the memorial for the unborn, which graces our garden next to the Blessed Mother. Supporting parish activities is an ongoing part of the Knights of Columbus Charter. They contribute and assist in the running of the annual raffle, sponsor a Seminarian, and make monetary contributions to further the mission of the parish. St. Elizabeth Knights of Columbus remains truly dedicated to its service to our parish. Visit the St. Elizabeth Knight of Coilumbus Web site for more information about their activities.
