Liturgy
and Music Ministries
This committee helps plan liturgies for the various seasons of the Church year. This includes Advent, Christmas, Lent, The Triduum, Easter, Pentecost as well as Ordinary Time. Members of the Liturgy Committee are asked to study the various Liturgical Documents of the Church.
The Pre-Cana Ministry assists engaged couples as they prepare for marriage. The Pre-Cana Team presents twelve topics over six sessions (two Sundays before the 12 noon mass and four Thursday evenings each Fall and Spring). To prepare for the program, the married couples attend a training program to learn the "art of facilitation". The six Pre-Cana sessions help engaged couples develop a strong faith and learn the skills needed for a successful marriage in today's world. During the sessions, the married couples share their faith, practical information and life experiences. In addition, there is interaction between the married couples and engaged couples which is designed to stimulate discussion between partners. The activities and discussions are enjoyable and enable all the participants, married and engaged, to deepen their faith and understanding of each other.
The sacrament of Marriage is a joyous occasion, shared intimately by the man and woman who are committing their lives to one another. The spiritual preparedness lasts a lifetime, and the festivities surrounding the exchange of vows take on epic proportions. Our Parish conducts rehearsals which are staffed by volunteers of the Wedding Rehearsal Coordinator Ministry. Our Coordinators, who usually perform in rotating teams, are responsible for collecting the proper documentation on the evening of the rehearsal. Following Parish guidelines, they perform an actual "dry run" of the ceremony at that time. They are in attendance on the day of the wedding, attending to last minute details, as well as providing hospitality to the guests of the bride and groom. As representatives of both the Ministry and our Parish, you become an integral part of the celebration of this sacrament, and have an opportunity to share in the joy and happiness of many Parish members.
Ushers and Greeters are Ministers of Hospitality; men, women and young adults who assist at Mass and other services. Ushers greet parishioners in the Gathering Area, assist in seating the congregation, collect the Gifts at the offertory, assure an orderly communion procession, respond to special needs of parishioners, straighten up after the Mass/Service, assist new parishioners who wish to register in the parish and provide hospitality.
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults)
Members of this committee journey
with those adults who are unbaptized and those who have been baptized
into another Christian tradition through four formation periods: Inquiry,
Catechumenate, Enlightenment and Mystagogia. They provide settings for
scripture sharing, faith sharing and education on the Catholic faith.
Members plan entry rites into the Catholic Church. |
