Parish
Social Ministries (PSM)
Is the empowerment of the parish as the people of God to fulfill the Church's mission of love, justice, freedom and peace. It accomplishes this by communally responding in an organized way to individual and societal human needs. It assists parishioners to understand and act on Catholic Social Teaching. PSM responds to human needs, whatever they may be, whether hunger, housing, illness, loneliness or employment. These needs may affect only one person or one family or they may arise from social policy that affects many.
Parish Social Ministries Advisory Board
The PSM Board advises the Director of Parish Social Ministry and the pastor regarding current and new ways to serve issues of justice and the poor, especially as these ways of service flow from the parish vision and mission statement. Board members are chosen by the Director of Parish Social Ministry and represent the wide variety of justice groups and those who serve the poor in the parish. The PSM Board meets occasionally throughout the year (two to three times).
