The Society of Vincent de Paul is an international organization of Catholic lay persons founded by Blessed Frederick Ozanan. The Society seeks, in the spirit of justice and charity and by person to person involvement, to help those who are suffering. "No work of charity is foreign to the Society." The St. Elizabeth Conference meets once a month in the Center. Meetings open with prayer and spiritual reflection. Members discuss the needs of the poor and develop activities to alleviate these problems.
Thanksgiving to Christmas Assistants

Despite our overwhelming commitments
during the weeks preceding Thanksgiving and Christmas, parishioners of
St. Elizabeth seem to gravitate to this ministry as an additional source
of fulfillment. The flexibility of time devoted to the Thanksgiving Food
Drive, the Giving Tree or the Parish Advent Party brings families together,
exploring the importance of sharing the joys of the holiday season along
with forging new friendships.
Our Thanksgiving Food Drive recruits individuals to collect, sort and
distribute the vast array of foodstuffs accumulated through the generosity
of fellow parishioners. This event occurs before and after each Mass the
weekend prior to Thanksgiving and seems to be especially rewarding to
the youth of our Parish. In addition, assistance is needed the Monday
after the Drive to distribute the baskets to those in need of a hearty
meal.
Preparation of our Giving Tree ornaments has become a home event. The
ornaments are then returned on a Saturday afternoon once the Tree is assembled.
Gathering and sorting the gifts before and after Masses for two consecutive
weekends find both parents and their children lending a vigorous hand.
Consider a time or talent commitment for this ministry!
